Curriculum
Major Math focuses for the year include addition & subtraction strategies, number patterns, adding & subtracting 2 digit numbers, place value to 1000, adding & subtracting 3 digit numbers, money combinations, data analysis, time, measurement, geometric shapes, fractions & equal shares, & story problem explanations. We will consistently practice math facts for fluency memorization.

Mad Minute
Mad Minute Math is a one minute fact quiz that is given daily. Each quiz consists of 20 basic math facts. Students will have one minute to complete as many problems as possible. Students will begin with +2, working their way through +3, +4, etc. through +9, then subtraction facts will follow. Students will continue their given set until 100% accuracy is reached. Our goal is to show consistent automaticity of these facts. I encourage you to help your child practice math fact sets at home.
Home Connection
Math & Content home connections will be placed in Take Home Folders at the beginning of each unit. These will give a preview of major concepts being taught throughout the unit & allow for extra at home review time. Please take the time to review these concepts with your child before our test. Students with signed Home Connections on test days will receive 2 Bonus Points added to their test grade.
